CGR 110 - Typography Number of Credits: 3 Typography is designed to teach the principles of developing letterforms as both an artistic and communication element. The technical specifications of typographic elements used for production and graphic design are discussed. (Fall Term Only) Three hours lecture each week. Three Credits. Three billable hours.
Pre-requisite(s): exemption/completion of ENG 001 , plus CGR 105 . Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the importance of letterform in Graphic Design. (PG2)
- Apply basic design principles to designing with letterforms. (PG2)
- Articulate the fundamentals of typeface anatomy. (PG2)
- Understand typographic nomenclature. (PG2)
- Create typography that can be used as both a communicative tool and a form of creative expression. (PG4)
- Perform research on contemporary graphic design. (PG2)
- Convert abstract concepts into original design solutions. (PG1)
- Communicate design concepts. (PG3)
- Assess artifacts created by others. (PG3)
- Apply the basics of graphic design theory. (PG2)
