The Arts and Sciences Criminal Justice Concentration is intended for students who plan to transfer to a baccalaureate degree program. The courses provide students with a realistic view of the criminal justice field through practical application and hands-on experiences. Students become acquainted with technical skills and procedures, acquire knowledge of the administration and operation of criminal justice organizations, and are made aware of career opportunities. This concentration supports the college’s mission of preparing students for transfer beyond associate degree attainment.

Program Goals

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

Communicate in written and oral modes to express knowledge of theories and crime issues.
Analyze global and community criminal justice issues by locating, organizing, and evaluating resources.
Apply criminology concepts that are valid, reliable, and based on problem-solving situations in the criminal justice field.
Apply course content to real world issues.

The following courses are required for this concentration; some courses fulfill General Education requirements: CRIM 101 , CRIM 105 , MATH 115 , and 3 Spanish credits (Spanish fluency recommended).

Diversity requirement: take ENGL 102 and an additional Diversity General Education course.
