To receive the degree, students must have a 2.750 GPA and meet the Basic Skills Assessment Requirement established by the Maryland State Department of Education. Students are encouraged to earn a minimum grade of C in all A.A.T. course requirements to ensure a smooth transfer and work with an Education Program Director.
The Introduction to Special Education course required by Carroll Community College is a necessary requirement of the College’s A.A.T. degree, but is not sufficient to meet all special education or inclusion course requirements for four-year teacher education programs. Students may be required to take additional special education or inclusion courses as a part of the requirements for a baccalaureate degree and teacher education certification at four-year institutions.
* Students must be in good academic standing in order to participate in field experiences (EDUC 121, EDUC 126 , and EDUC 131); one field experience allowed each term.
Diversity requirement: take ENGL 102.
Disclosure Regarding Programs for Professional Licensure or Certification
Some programs at Carroll Community College (CCC) are designed to meet educational requirements for a specific professional licensure or certification that is required for employment in an occupation.
If you are an out-of-state student seeking professional licensure in a state other than Maryland and you are taking a course or program leading to professional licensure or certification, CCC currently does not guarantee that the course or program meets requirements for professional licensure or certification anywhere other than Maryland. We encourage all students, especially out-of-state students, to contact the appropriate state (or District of Columbia or U.S. territory) licensing board or agency where you intend to work to familiarize yourself with the state educational, licensing, and/or certification requirements.
