To complete the Practical Nursing Certificate Program, students must be accepted to the Registered Nurse A.S. Program.

Program Goals


Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Contribute to the nursing process as part of the healthcare team.
  2. Assimilate into the profession of practical nursing.
  3. Provide patient-centered care.

= BIOL 101  is required within 5 years of BIOL 210  and BIOL 215 

* BIOL 210 BIOL 211 , and BIOL 215  are required within 5 years of the first clinical course (NURS 131 ).

# Must have a minimum grade of C in all courses

The Practical Nursing program is approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing.

A minimum grade of C is required in all nursing courses. Science courses must be completed within 5 years of entering clinical courses. This program admits students selectively; see admissions procedures and requirements. Minimum entrance GPA is 2.500 based on pre-clinical requirements only.

This plan of study prepares students for the national licensure examination for practical nursing (NCLEX-PN).

The Practical Nursing program is approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
