The purpose of the Associate of Science program in Engineering with a concentration in Mechanical/Civil is to prepare students to continue their studies towards a baccalaureate degree in engineering. Students acquire a solid foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering while developing their ability to think critically and solve problems.

Program Goals


Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate relevant foundational knowledge in mathematics, science, and engineering, including the use of computer tools.
  2. Use foundational knowledge to engage in engineering problem solving.
  3. Collaborate with others on a team to complete projects and assignments.
  4. Explain the professional and ethical obligations of engineers to employers and society.
  5. Use concepts from engineering mechanics to analyze structures and their components.

*If transferring to UMCP, CHEM 134  (offered spring term only) or CHEM 106  must be completed (prerequisite CHEM 105 ).

 

Diversity requirement: one of the required general education courses must also be a Diversity General Education  course

 

An Associate of Science degree requires a minimum of 9 credits of 200-level courses.
