The purpose of the Associate of Science program in Engineering with a concentration in Mechanical/Civil is to prepare students to continue their studies towards a baccalaureate degree in engineering. Students acquire a solid foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering while developing their ability to think critically and solve problems.

Degree Requirements
Associate of Science, Engineering, Mechanical/Civil Concentration, Degree Recommended Course Sequence: 60 Credits Required Mechanical/Civil Engineering Concentration Elective
Select 8 credits: Program Goals
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to: - Demonstrate relevant foundational knowledge in mathematics, science, and engineering, including the use of computer tools.
- Use foundational knowledge to engage in engineering problem solving.
- Collaborate with others on a team to complete projects and assignments.
- Explain the professional and ethical obligations of engineers to employers and society.
- Use concepts from engineering mechanics to analyze structures and their components.

*If transferring to UMCP, CHEM 134 (offered spring term only) or CHEM 106 must be completed (prerequisite CHEM 105 ). Diversity requirement: one of the required general education courses must also be a Diversity General Education course. An Associate of Science degree requires a minimum of 9 credits of 200-level courses. |
