DFAB 207 - SOLIDWORKS Advanced

Number of Credits: 3
Maximize the use of part modeling capabilities of SOLIDWORKS mechanical design automation software. Leverage multibody solids, advanced sweeping and lofting features, and more robust part shaping capabilities of SOLIDWORKS. Create welded structures with structural members, weldment profiles, and weld beads. This course will prepare students to take the Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional Advanced Weldment (CSWPA-WD) exam.  (Spring Term Only) Three hours lecture each week. Three Credits. Three billable hours.

Pre-requisite(s): Pre-requisite:DFAB 105   with a minimum grade of C or better.   Can be taken concurrently with DFAB 270   with permission of Program Director.
Course Topics:
  • Multibody design techniques
  • Saving and splitting solid bodies
  • SKetching with splines
  • Advanced sweeping
  • 3D Sketching
  • Curve Features
  • Advanced Lofts
  • Boundary Features
  • Introduction to Weldments
  • Working with Weldments
  • Configuring and Detailing Weldments
  • Bent Structural Weldments

Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
