MATH 118 - College Algebra Number of Credits: 4 Examine linear, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and other special equations and functions along with various applications. Explore and expand upon symbolic and numerical representations of mathematical concepts of equations and functions. A prerequisite for Applied Calculus, MATH-132; designed for students not pursuing Calculus of a Single Variable I, MATH-135. CLEP (College Algebra with a score of 50) accepted. GENERAL EDUCATION (Fall, Spring & Summer Only) Four hours lecture each week. Four Credits. Four billable hours.

Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Examine rules, properties, and structures of linear and special equations/functions, such as square root, absolute value, piece-wise, exponential, and logarithmic (GE2, GE3)
- Determine domain and range of various types of equations, functions, and inequalities (GE2)
- Write equations and functions in different forms (GE2)
- Evaluate transformations of various types of functions (GE2, GE3)
- Solve various types of equations, functions, and inequalities (GE2, GE3)
- Use various elements to sketch the graph of equations and functions (GE2, GE3)
- Solve systems of equations with two variables using multiple methods (GE2, GE3)
