STDEV 100 - Self Leadership


Number of Credits: 1
Examine your stuck patterns of behavior and the beliefs that drive those behaviors; practice skills to get unstuck. Identify and manage your emotions so you can  make decisions from a calm and centered place.  Use the PAUSE (pause, awareness, understanding, solution, experiment) model to find curiosity about your experiences and better lead yourself.  (All Terms) One hour lecture each week. One Credit. One billable hour.

Pre-requisite(s): eligibility for ENG 001

Self Awareness

Emotional regulation

Understanding and working with Triggers

Using curiosity as a tool for self leadership

Interrogating limiting beliefs

Skills and tools to assist with disregulation both pro-actively and when in crisis
Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
 

  • Recognize behavioral patterns and responses to stimuli.
  • Identify strategies for working with habitual responses.
  • Practice skills to attend to difficult emotions.
  • Apply at least one skill to shift habitual responses.
