DFAB 205 - SOLIDWORKS Fundamentals Number of Credits: 3 Use SOLIDWORKS computer-aided design software to create advanced parts and assemblies. Apply functions required to document a design using tools found in the Drawing environment. This course prepares students to complete both the Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional Advanced-Drawing Tools (CSWPA-DT) exam as the midterm and the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) exam as the final exam. Certifications are not guaranteed. (Spring Term Only) Three hours lecture each week. Three Credits. Three billable hours.
Pre-requisite(s): DFAB 105 with a minimum grade of C or better. Can be taken concurrently with DFAB 270 with permission of Program Director. Course Topics:

Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Set up part and assembly views for use in drawings. (PG5)
- Generate drawing files and sheets with appropriate formats and attributes. (PG5)
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the characteristics associated with various drawing views. (PG5)
- Apply functional driven and driving dimensions. (PG5)
- Compose blocks, notes, annotations, and symbols from geometric models. (PG5)
- Manipulate sheet formats and templates for appropriate functions. (PG5).
- Produce a customized Bill of Materials content and associated properties. (PG5)
- Compare various drawing references. (PG5)
- Create advanced 3D parts using 2D sketch geometry, dimensions, and various features. (PG5)
- Employ appropriate design intent by accounting for future model behaviors and changes. (PG5)
- Demonstrate a mastery of the three key components of a feature-based, parametric solid modeler. (PG5)
