NURS 131 - Health Assessment Number of Credits: 1 Use a body systems approach to develop physical examination skills with diverse populations. Focus on assessment of individuals throughout the lifespan.Thirty hours of laboratory practice each semester. Additional $130 fee required. (Fall & Summer Only) Varies by week. One Credit. One billable hour.
Pre-requisite(s): Admission to the Nursing Program. Co-requisite(s): NURS 132 and NURS 133 (Fall) or NURS 132 and NURS 203 (Summer) Course Topics: Assessment of the following systems: General Survey, Cardiovascular, GI, HEENT, Musculoskeletal, Neuro, Peripheral Vascular, Respiratory, Skin, Hair, Nails, Vital Signs and Pain. Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify the components of a complete health assessment including normal and abnormal findings (PG1)
- Demonstrate documentation skills pertaining to physical assessment (PG1)
- Identify sociocultural and spiritual considerations in the performance of the health assessment (PG3)
