ENG 002 - Integrated Reading and Writing 2 Number of Credits: 0 Integrated Reading and Writing 2 provides college-preparatory instruction in critical thinking, reading, and writing. Using readings from a variety of genres, coursework will emphasize analyzing complex academic texts, critically responding to ideas and information from academic texts.(Fall, Spring)Four hours lecture each week. Zero credits. Four billable hours.
Pre-requisite(s): exemption/completion of ENG 001 .
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Apply active reading strategies to comprehend texts.
- Craft topic sentences to focus paragraphs that develop a thesis statement in an essay.
- Identify, compare, and contrast ideas from multiple sources of information.
- Describe how audience and purpose affect writing.
- Organize ideas and information at the paragraph and essay levels.
- Recognize expert and inexpert sources of information.
- Identify and correct two to three persistent sentence level errors.
- Revise a selected essay as a signature portfolio artifact.
