HLTH 201 - Women’s Health Number of Credits: 3 Explore the physical, mental, emotional, financial, and behavioral aspects of women’s health from past to present. Examine modern-day health issues for women of various cultures, races, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and sexual orientations. Course content includes a multidisciplinary approach to women’s health issues and provides a framework for informed decision-making. (Fall, Spring, Summer)Three hours lecture each week. Three Credits. Three billable hours.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe key historical events that shaped the women’s health movement, women’s rights, and women in society.
- Examine the physiological aspects of health in women from birth to senior years.
- Interpret wellness assessment data and course concepts to help guide informed decision-making.
- Explore risk factors for various diseases that impact women and explore signs, symptoms, and treatment options for these diseases.
- Examine the importance of nutrition, physical activity, reproductive health, and sexual health across the female lifespan.
- Explore mental health and stress management, and how they impact behavior and overall wellness in women.
- Describe the impact culture, family, personal experience, and societal influences have on women’s health behaviors.
- Develop research-based assignments focused on wellness through a women’s health lens.
