Certificate Requirements
Recommended Course Sequence: (Total Credits: 36)
Program Goals
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Interpret medical documents using medical terminology, human anatomy, and an understanding of disease process.
- Utilize multiple coding classification systems applicable to inpatient and outpatient care settings.
- Apply coding guidelines to ensure comprehensive, accurate coding.
- Use software programs and technologies common in the workplace.
- Utilize health data to complete common tasks, functions, or projects.
- Identify how legal, ethical, and financial issues impact health information management.
Student Notices
All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C.
Upon completion of the certificate students will be eligible to sit for certification examinations offered by the American Health Information Management Association.
