The Psychology Concentration employs a systemic and applied approach to teaching students about the psychology field. Students develop critical thinking skills that will guide them in a wide variety of careers after transfer to a baccalaureate degree program. Students examine behavior, mindset, and perspective through collaboration with professors and research in relevant fields such as psychopathology, human development, gender and sexuality, and social psychology. This program promotes the college’s mission to engage students through effective teaching in a caring, student-centered environment.

Program Goals
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Describe common theories used in the field of psychology.
- Apply psychological concepts to real-world situations.
- Explain the sociocultural influences on human behavior, mental health, and human development.
- Evaluate basic psychological research.
- Cite appropriately using correct APA formatting.
Student Notices
The following courses are required for this concentration; some courses fulfill General Education requirements: BIOL 101 , PSYC 101 , PSYC 211 and MATH 115 or MATH 121 .
Diversity requirement: take ENGL 102 and an additional course.
