The Associate of Arts degree program in Business Administration, Management Information Systems Concentration, prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution to continue their studies in business administration, management information systems, and related fields. Challenging coursework with a focus on writing and critical thinking skills provides a solid basis for students to become engaged citizens and thoughtful leaders in their chosen fields.

Recommended Course Sequence: 60 Credits Required

Program Goals


Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. 
  2. Prepare basic accounting documentation. 
  3. Develop a simple business and marketing plan. 
  4. Explain the process and functions of management of a business organization. 
  5. Employ fundamental software applications for everyday business tasks. 
  6. Summarize the computer databases, networks, and computer security for information systems commonly used in business organizations.

Student Notices


The following courses are required for this concentration; some courses fulfill General Education requirements: ACCT 101 , ACCT 102 , BUAD 101 , CIS 101 , CIS 105 , CIS 137 , CIS 148 , COMM 105 , ECON 100 , ECON 102 , and MGMT 201 .

Diversity requirement: take ENGL 102  and an additional Diversity General Education  course. 

An Associate of Arts degree requires a minimum of 12 credits of 200-level courses.

Business majors with a 3.200 GPA may be eligible for membership in the business honor society, Alpha Beta Gamma.

Students may choose to complete this program in an online format. Speak with an advisor to determine if online learning is appropriate.
