sUAS Pilot Safety Certificate

Prepare for an exciting career as a Commercial Drone Pilot. This certificate provides students with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skill necessary to safely operate a small-unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) within the National Airspace System.

This certificate trains you as a professional Remote Pilot and delivers knowledge required for industry safety certification, in order to build competency in the field of sUAS aviation Safety. The coursework prepares students to take the FAA Remote Pilot in Command (Part 107) certification exam and the industry-recognized sUAS Safety Certification exams.  

Certification is not guaranteed. Some of the coursework may require fieldwork and flight laboratories.

Program Goals


Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Attain FAA remote pilot (Part 107) certification and industry-recognized certifications.
  2. Operate a commercial drone smoothly, accurately, and precisely.
  3. Demonstrate how to plan and execute a mission in a safe and legal manner; produce appropriate mission output; and plan and perform appropriate maintenance.
