The purpose of the Associate of Science degree in Engineering with a concentration in Chemical/Biomedical is to prepare students to continue their studies towards a baccalaureate degree in engineering. Students acquire a solid foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering, while developing their ability to think critically and solve problems.

Program Goals


Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate relevant foundational knowledge in mathematics, science, and engineering, including the use of computer tools.
  2. Use foundational knowledge to engage in engineering problem solving.
  3. Collaborate with others on a team to complete projects and assignments.
  4. Explain the professional and ethical obligations of engineers to employers and society.
  5. Use appropriate concepts and scientific principles to solve problems from chemistry.

Student Notices


The following courses are required for this concentration; some courses fulfill General Education requirements: CHEM 105 , CHEM 106 , CHEM 201 , MATH 135 , MATH 136 , MATH 205 , PHYS 212  and nine Concentration Elective credits (according to transfer institution preferences, select from CHEM 202 , CIS 132 , ENGR 102 , and/or MATH 215 ).

Diversity requirement: select a Diversity General Education  course. 

An Associate of Science degree requires a minimum of 9 credits of 200-level courses.
