By providing performance opportunities, theoretical and historical studies, and one-on-one applied studies with expert faculty, the program strives to graduate students who are critical thinkers and skilled performers.

Degree Requirements
Associate of Fine Arts, Music, Degree Recommended Course Sequence: 60 Credits Required Program Goals
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to: - Perform a stylistically varied repertoire of musical literature with expression and technical accuracy.
- Critique the usage of musical elements in live and prerecorded performances that represent various styles and cultures.
- Analyze musical examples using elements of music theory from multiple stylistic periods and genres.
- Apply music theory by performing scales, arpeggios, chords, staff reading, and theoretical concepts on the piano.
- Explain the value of music, functions of music, roles of musicians, and conditions under which music is performed in various cultures and time periods.
- Demonstrate an aural understanding of music theory via dictation, sight-singing, and performance.
Student Notices
One ensemble recommended each term. Two credits of applied study recommended each term. An Associate of Fine Arts degree requires a minimum of 12 credits of 200-level courses. |
