Explore decision-making bias, stress, and methods for safely identifying and mitigating risk while making time-critical decisions. Identify limits and skills used by professional remote pilots to trap and mitigate mistakes. Analyze techniques that detect and stop errors during day-to-day remote pilot tasks. Additional $99 certification exam fee paid to Unmanned Safety Institute. Certification not guaranteed. (Fall Term Only) Three hours lecture each week. Three Credits. Three billable hours.

Pre-requisite(s): SUAS 104 with a minimum grade of C or better.
Course Topics:

Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Explore human factors considerations in the operation of unmanned aircraft. (PG1,PG3)
Relate crew resource management principles to unmanned operations. (PG1, PG3)
Design “ab initio” human-machine interface for unmanned aircraft system. (PG1, PG3)
Evaluate decision making models and the way they relate to unmanned operations. (PG1, PG3)
Practice attitudes and behaviors appropriate for aviation safety. (PG1, PG3)
Apply course knowledge and skills to the Unmanned Safety Institute Advanced Safety Level 1 certification exam. (PG1)
