Students who desire a career in Physics are well-prepared for advanced study at a four-year college or university, or to enter the STEM workforce, through their classroom, laboratory, and field learning experiences with an Associate of Science degree. Through effective teaching, engaged learning, and a student-centered environment, this program educates students to lead well-informed and productive lives.

Program Goals


Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Apply the process of science to answer questions in the laboratory and field.
  2. Apply quantitative reasoning to solve scientific problems.
  3. Communicate information effectively to provide explanations and possible solutions to scientific problems.
  4. Identify interdisciplinary approaches to analyze scientific problems.

The following courses are required for this concentration; some courses fulfill General Education requirements: CHEM 105 , CHEM 106 , MATH 135 , MATH 136 , MATH 205 , MATH 215 , PHYS 111 , PHYS 212  and PHYS 213 .

Diversity requirement: take ENGL 102 .
