The purpose of the Associate of Applied Science degree program in Computer Information Systems is to prepare students for a career in computer technology by providing a broad background in computer repair and support, networking, database design, object-oriented programming and web development technologies.

Recommended Course Sequence: 60 Credits Required
Program Goals
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Communicate technical information to others verbally and in writing.
- Apply technical reasoning to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve challenges and issues.
- Demonstrate effective documentation and reporting skills as measured by industry defined technical documentation standards.
- Plan and develop software programs for a variety of uses.
Student Notices
Diversity requirement: take a diversity-designated Social and Behavioral Sciences General Education course.
An Associate of Applied Science degree requires a minimum of 9 credits of 200-level courses.
Credit may be granted for a current industry-recognized certification. See Mr. Day for information. Send credentials to the Records office.
Students who select this curriculum and wish to transfer later to a four-year institution should check with that institution. While many courses will transfer, certain specialized courses may not.
It is also recommended that students preparing for transfer to a four-year institution in Computer Science take additional General Education courses, especially mathematics courses in the Calculus sequence and beyond.
