CGR 105 - Introduction to Computer Graphics


Number of Credits: 3
Introduction to Computer Graphics introduces students to the concept of using the computer as a tool in the graphics industry. Students will further develop their knowledge of graphic design and will be able apply that knowledge through the use of graphic design and layout software on computers. Demonstration of advanced subjects will also be included as part of a survey of the computer graphics industry. (Fall & Spring Only) Three hours lecture each week. Three Credits. Three billable hours.

Pre-requisite(s): exemption/completion of ENG 001  plus
Pre-/Co-requisite(s): MAT 095 .

Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  1. Use industry-standard design software at an introductory level. (PG 1)
  2. Use industry-standard design hardware at an introductory level. (PG 1)
  3. Create aesthetically appropriate artifacts for their design portfolio. (PG 4)
  4. Perform research on contemporary graphic design. (PG 2)
  5. Convert abstract concepts into original design solutions. (PG 3)
  6. Communicate design concepts. (PG 3)
  7. Assess artifacts created by others. (PG 3)
  8. Apply the basics of graphic design theory. (PG 2)
