HONOR 201 - Exploring Leadership Number of Credits: 1
Examine characteristics and skills for effective leadership in a rapidly changing world. Discover leadership potential and identify areas of personal growth. This course is only for students participating in the Pappalardo Honors Program. Additional $250 fee required. (All Terms) One hour lecture each week. One Credit. One billable hour.
Course Topics: Topics will include leadership theories and models, self-awareness, communication, group processes and behaviors, organizational leadership, diversity, ethical leadership and decision-making, and service leadership. Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: This course will help students understand leadership and develop their own capacity for leadership. By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Articulate their personal values, goals, and strengths and weaknesses as a leader.
- Describe characteristics of effective leadership.
- Identify strategies to enhance team performance, including those related to Tuckman’s group development theory.
- Identify strategies for effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Discuss the value of perspectives, opinions, and experiences that are different from their own.
