Explore decision-making bias, stress, and methods for safely identifying and mitigating risk while making time-critical decisions. Identify limits and skills used by professional remote pilots to trap and mitigate mistakes. Analyze techniques that detect and stop errors during day-to-day remote pilot tasks (Fall Term Only) Three hours lecture each week. Three Credits. Three billable hours.

Pre-requisite(s): SUAS 104 with a minimum grade of C or better.
Course Topics:
Decision-making bias, stress, and methods for risk identification and mitigation during time-critical decisions.

Limits and skills identification to mitigate mistakes.

Techniques to detect and stop errors during day-to-day tasks.
Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Explore human factors considerations in the operation of unmanned aircraft. (PG2,PG5)
Relate crew resource management principles to unmanned operations. (PG2, PG5)
Design “ab initio” human-machine interface for unmanned aircraft system. (PG2, PG3, PG5)
Evaluate decision making models and the way they relate to unmanned operations. (PG2, PG5)
Practice attitudes and behaviors appropriate for aviation safety. (PG2, PG5)
