Data Science is an emerging discipline centered on investigating, analyzing, and presenting conclusions on data in fields such as Business, Accounting, Healthcare, and STEM. The Data Science certificate prepares students for immediate professional placement or provides a foundational base for continued study in a Bachelor’s program. Students who transfer to a four-year institution will be advised to take additional mathematics and computer science courses.

MATH 115 - Introduction to Statistical Methods (Fall, Spring & Summer Only)
CIS 148 - Intro. to SQL & Database Design (Fall & Spring Only)

Spring

CIA 135 - Excel (Spring Term Only)
CIA 170 - Access (Fall Term Only)
DATA 210 - Exploratory Data Analysis (Spring Term Only)

Program Goals

Upon completion successful completion of the program, the student will be able to:

Collect, organize, clean, transform, and load data into an appropriate format for analysis.
Apply statistical tools and techniques to a cleaned dataset to identify patterns and test relationships.
Apply visualizations to present patterns and relationships in a data set.
Communicate conclusions learned from the analysis process to an audience.
Discuss ethical issues and their implications surrounding data science.
