Data Science is an emerging discipline centered on investigating, analyzing, and presenting conclusions on data in fields such as Business, Accounting, Healthcare, and STEM. The Data Science degree prepares students for immediate professional placement or provides a foundational base for continued study in a Bachelor’s program.

Program Goals


Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to:

  1. Collect, organize, clean, transform, and load data into an appropriate format for analysis.
  2. Apply statistical tools and techniques to a cleaned dataset to identify patterns and test relationships.
  3. Apply visualizations to present patterns and relationships in a data set.
  4. Communicate conclusions learned from the analysis process to an audience.
  5. Discuss ethical issues and their implications surrounding data science.   

Student Notices


Diversity Requirement: ENGL 102   and a Social and Behavioral Science Diversity course (Select ANTH 101 SOC 101 SOC 210 , or SOC 215 ).

An Associate of Arts degree requires a minimum of 12 credits of 200-level courses.

Students who transfer to a four-year institution are advised to take additional mathematics and computer science courses as their electives. Initially, we will pursue transfer articulations with Mt. St. Mary’s University and Capitol Technology University.
