The certificate in Digital Design and Fabrication enhances the skills of individuals currently working in the digital fabrication field or prepares students who already have a college degree for employment or advancement in such fields as concept modeling, manufacturing, industrial engineering and design, and product design. This program blends emerging technologies such as 3D printing, subtractive manufacturing, and 3D scanning with contemporary design, manufacturing, and production strategies.

Program Goals
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Analyze additive manufacturing as a disruptive technology changing approaches to design and manufacturing.
- Evaluate designs and digital fabrication concepts.
- Develop a research-based, problem-solving design process that demonstrates the parameters of specific project requirements.
- Generate a portfolio of prototypes that demonstrates specific human factors and design criteria using industry-standard digital fabrication tools and techniques.
- Master industry standard CAD/CAE software, SOLIDWORKS, to obtain industry certifications.

Take the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) exam upon completion of DFAB 105 and DFAB 205 .
Take the Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional Advanced Sheet Metal (CSWPA-SM) exam upon completion of DFAB 206 .
Take the Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional Advanced Weldment (CSWPA-WD) exam upon completion of DFAB 207 .
Take the Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional (CSWP) exam upon completion of DFAB 270 .
