The certificate in SOLIDWORKS™ prepares students to complete a variety of SOLIDWORKS™ certifications including the CSWA, CSWPA-SM, CSWPA-MD, and CSWP exams. Certifications are not guaranteed. SOLIDWORKS™ certifications are benchmarks that measure knowledge and competency in SOLIDWORKS™ software and are validations of ability to use the software on a professional level. These certifications are proof of SOLIDWORKS™ expertise with cutting-edge skills that businesses seek out and reward.

Program Goals


Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Analyze additive manufacturing as a disruptive technology changing approaches to design and manufacturing.
  2. Evaluate designs and digital fabrication concepts.
  3. Develop a research-based, problem-solving design process that demonstrates the parameters of specific project requirements.
  4. Generate a portfolio of prototypes that demonstrates specific human factors and design criteria using industry-standard digital fabrication tools and techniques.
  5. Master industry standard CAD/CAE software, SOLIDWORKS, to obtain industry certifications.

This is a state-wide designated program. Maryland residents declaring and following this program pay the in-county tuition rate.

This program prepares students to complete a variety of SOLIDWORKS™ certifications including the CSWA, CSWPA-SM, CSWPA-WD, and CSWP. Certification is not guaranteed.

Take the Certified SOLIDWORKS™ Associate (CSWA) exam upon completion of DFAB 105  and DFAB 205 

Take the Certified SOLIDWORKS™ Professional Advanced Sheet Metal (CSWPA-SM) exam upon completion of DFAB 206 .

Take the Certified SOLIDWORKS™ Professional Advanced Weldment (CSWPA-WD) exam upon completion of DFAB 207 

Take the Certified SOLIDWORKS™ Professional (CSWP) exam upon completion of DFAB 270 .
